McDonald’s company CEO Chris Kempczynski Said the burger giant is grappling with violent crime, homelessness and drug overdoses at its Chicago restaurants and called on city and business leaders to find ways to address them.
Crime has had a corrosive effect on Chicago, and McDonald’s is struggling to bring company employees back to headquarters in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Kempczinski said Wednesday in a keynote speech at the Economic Club of Chicago. He said the company was trying to convince employees that it was safe to return to the city centre and take public transport again.
