Urban Corps Hiring New Location
The San Diego County Urban Corps is hiring for its new North County location in Escondido. If you are 18-26 years old and willing to work hard and get paid while earning a high school diploma, Urban Corps may be for you. Those interested can attend an information session on Monday at 9:30am at 2200 Micro Place. No appointment required; walk-in welcome. Urban Corps is also looking for supervisors to help train and supervise Corps members. Auto club pays tribute to local businesses
Johnathan’s Towing in Escondido was recently named Battery Service Provider of the Year by the Automobile Club of Southern California. The award is based on outstanding member service performance, including participation in Auto Club programs and initiatives and community leadership. The company was one of 30 service providers honored at the Auto Club’s Annual Service Awards Luncheon. Several other regional suppliers received the Five Diamond Club Roadside Service Award. In 2021, they received “excellent ratings” in three categories: overall satisfaction, service driver satisfaction, and response time satisfaction. They are California Towing & Recovery in El Cajon; Premium Trailers in Lemon Grove; and Tony Auto Center in Chula Vista. These service providers make up the top 8 percent of more than 400 service providers in 13 southern California counties.

The North San Diego Economic Development Council hosted a lunch and learn workshop on proactive conservation and loss reduction. Learn about the simple steps you can take to protect your business; the latest trends in various threats facing small businesses; and more. Foundation appoints new president
San Diego-based Warriors Foundation Freedom Station recently named Andrew Gasper its president. The organization provides quality-of-life items, support services, and transitional housing to sick and injured veterans while they recover. Gasper will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, fundraising, mentoring programs and services, and providing transition support for those living on Freedom Station properties. Gasper’s 20+ year career includes serving as a military police officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a sales/finance manager in the private sector, and managing rehabilitation nursing and vocational and education departments at U.S. Marine Corps Wounded Soldier Battalion West in San Diego, and hawaii. He is a medically retired U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant and holds an MBA from Argosy University and an MBA from National University in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Sir John Moto, an electric vehicle company founded by San Diego native Sajad Ahmadi, has opened a store near North City, near San Marcos, California. The store offers a selection of electric vehicles, including Zero-branded scooters, bikes, motorcycles, and more. SirrJohn Moto was founded in 2018 to reduce the planet’s carbon footprint and provide alternative modes of transportation, while also providing 15% of annual net sales to organizations helping children and families around the world.
