Wales Tech Awards launches app ahead of gala

The eighth edition of the Wales Technology Awards will be held at a gala ceremony in Cardiff on September 15, with founder Technology Connected launching an official app to ensure access for finalists, guests and all involved event information.

Technology Connected will host over 350 technology organisations from across Wales to celebrate leading innovations, achievements and individuals in established and emerging technologies. The awards recognise finalists in 12 categories, such as the prestigious Sir Michael Moritz Tech Startup Awards, with previous winners including Drone Evolution, We Build Bots, Wealthify and doopoll.

Wales’ tech sector is worth more than £8.5 billion to the economy, with 3,500 companies supporting 40,000 high-value jobs. The Wales Technology Awards provide an annual opportunity to turn the spotlight on these leading lights at home and abroad.

Technology Connected managing director Avril Lewis said,

“We are committed to making the awards as paperless as possible as sustainability is a core aspect that we and the Welsh tech industry are looking to achieve. The official app will have the latest details and programming of the evening; it will provide easy access to directions, dress code and evening programme. It will also provide information on our incredible finalists and partners supporting the award.

“We are delighted to launch the app and will continue to find ways to share, support and celebrate the Welsh tech industry. The awards ceremony will be a huge event and I look forward to welcoming everyone on the evening.”

The app was created by Cardiff-based digital development studio We Are Propeller. It can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for iOS, just search for “Wales Technology Awards”.
